ICS puts Motif Defect Database online

From LinuxPR: Integrated
Computer Solutions, Inc., the leading supplier of commercial OSF/Motif
products and support, today announced that it had made the Motif defect
database publically accessible on its Motif community website, the MotifZone
(http://www.motifzone.net). This is the first open access to the Motif defect
database that was previously only available to employees and consultants of The
Open Group.

Free Opera: Start of something big?

Lucent’s Inferno OS does a Java

The Register reports: “The Inferno OS has parked a heavily-armoured tricycle on Sun’s
lawn. Lucent spin-off Vita Nuova, which also markets the Plan 9
system, has made an Inferno plug-in for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer
to run downloadable code.”

Hitachi rolls out Transmeta-based Internet appliance

Hitachi’s Flora-ie 55mi is effectively a cross between a notebook, a handheld and a cell phone, reports CNET.com.. The device–which looks like a
notebook screen with a frame–hooks up directly to the Internet and is used to search Web content or run applications, similar to a
standard PC. However, people can use a pen to input data like a Palm. Additionally, it contains a mobile phone interface for calls.
