NetBSD 1.5 release CDs

The NetBSD Mission is pleased to announce another release of NetBSD available in a shrink-wrapped CD-ROM set. NetBSD 1.5 CD sets can be pre-ordered through DaemonNewsMall and will ship as soon as they are available. You can also still purchase NetBSD 1.4.2 CD sets (in paper sleeves).

Chello cancels merger with Excite@Home

InfoWorld reports: “Chello Broadband and Excite@Home have abandoned plans to merge, the companies announced Tuesday. The transaction had been “complex, with a number of difficult business issues to resolve,” said Mark Schneider, chairman and chief executive officer of Chello’s parent company, United Pan-Europe Communications. Schneider said the parties “worked hard” to resolve the issues, but were unable to reach an agreement.”

ZapMe! zaps schools

Corp., a company that gave schools free computers and Internet access in exchange for the right to display online advertisements, has told 2,300 schools nationwide that they must either give back the equipment, or start paying for it. Caldera edges Linux closer to enterprise with Volution

Caldera Systems Caldera Volution, an object-oriented management tool that leverages an LDAP-compliant directory, extends directory schemata to include Volution objects and builds relationships between those objects by creating or changing links among them.”
