Best of Linux recognized offerings at Linux Business Expo during Comdex

OREM, UT-November 21, 2000- Caldera Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CALD), a
“Linux
for Business” leader, today announced its OpenLinux eBuilder was named
“Best
E-Commerce Solution” in the Penguin Playoff Awards by Linux Journal.
“This is great recognition for Caldera – both for the company and for
the
individuals who work to create the products,” said Darren Davis, vice
president of research and development for Caldera Systems. “Our
ambition is
to determine the needs and expectations of business and then exceed
them. This award shows we are succeeding in that desire.”

The awards recognize the best customized business products developed
for the
Linux operating system and are chosen from exhibitors at Linux Business
Expo-Las Vegas.
According to personal opinion, Don Marti, technical editor at Linux
Journal,
feels eBuilder’s greatest advantage was its inclusion of IBM Java
tools.
“Java is becoming the ‘new COBOL’ for business applications, and IBM’s
Java
for Linux is highly respected among Java developers,” Marti said.
