IBM releases software for Unix super clusters

IBM Monday unveiled software to build Unix clusters out of its RS/6000 S80 servers.

The Blue Hammer clusters make use of IBM’s Parallel System Support Programs (PSSP) to cluster up to 16 S80 Unix servers with a total of up to 384 processors. The software allows a single-control workstation to handle all administrative functions in the cluster.
