Appeals court rejects Microsoft, DOJ requests

From CNet: “A federal appeals court on Thursday issued setbacks to both Microsoft and the
government in their long-running antitrust battle.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected Microsoft’s request that it
reconsider its June decision that the software giant illegally integrated its Internet browser with its
Windows operating system.”

ISPDB Software is up for sale

announced that the Company is to be dissolved, and the Copyright to all its
software is now up for sale.

ISPDB is a provisioning system for small to medium ISPs running Linux. It
features three fully automated interfaces: an administration interface to allow
ISP staff to add, view and update customer records and their associated
purchased products; a sign up interface for selling products to both new and old
customers over the net; a customer interface to allow customers to update their
details, customise purchased products and view account status.

Red Hat: No Roswell beta exists

Is distributive computing a crime?

ZDNet reports that a “former computer administrator at DeKalb Technical College in Georgia found out recently
that he could face up to 30 years in jail and fines totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars
because he installed some distributed computing software on the school’s computers.”

Dell stops offering desktop Linux

IDG News Service reports that Dell has quietly stopped offering the Linux operating system as an option on its desktop and laptop PCs. Apparently, there wasn’t enough demand for Dell to continue offering Linux.
