BT preps wires-only ADSL

The Register: “Broadband users are to be given greater choice over which modem they use in the UK with the introduction of a `wires-only` version of ADSL from BT Wholesale. Tom Saville, broadband marketing manager at BT Wholesale, claims a wires-only ADSL connection by BT would reduce the overall cost to customers of installing broadband.”

Dell quizzes customers on AMD-based PC

Santa Fe bans mobile phones behind the wheel

The Dallas Morning News reports that Sante Fe police in the American state of New Mexico have introduced a ban on mobile phones behind the wheel, following in the footsteps of New York state, which also banned the practice, widely considered unsafe.
