ZeroDB, An End-To-End Encrypted Database, Is Now Open Source

ZeroDB is a new database application with a very cool feature. At a time when security is foremost in the minds of most people in this digital age, that feature is a must-have for any modern database application that aims to offer complete data security.

And that feature, is end-to-end encryption, which makes ZeroDB the latest in a very short list of databases that I’m aware of that’s marketed as an end-to-end encrypted database. A description of the project from an official blog post says that ZeroD…

Chapeau 23 “Armstrong” Is a Beautifully Crafted Linux Distro Based on Fedora 23

chapeau-based-on-fedora-23Chapeau 23 “Armstrong,” a Linux distribution based on the Fedora 23 Workstation has been released and is now available for download.

Fedora is a powerful distribution, but it’s not used all that often as a base. Sure, there are a few Linux distributions out there that do choose Fedora to build upon, but their numbers are dwarfed in comparison with Debian or Ubuntu. Chapeau, along Korora, is one of the most prominent Fedora spins that manage to provide a better experience than the base, and that is something that doesn’t happen often.

Installing syslog-ng OSE 3.7.1 on RHEL6 and CentOS6

There is still a surprisingly large number of people running RHEL/CentOS version 6 machines, so I have created syslog-ng 3.7.1 packages for this aging operating system as well. As for any syslog-ng OSE packages, there is no official support for it from BalaBit. Especially because this package is a wild mixture of the old EPEL6 and the current Fedora Rawhide package. It breaks many of the packaging rules, which has the advantage that almost all possible features could be enabled, even those that are only available with bundled libraries or by breaking /usr vs. / boundaries.
