Messaging Associates (IMA), strengthens its position among Linux users as it
releases Beta 18 of its latest Internet Exchange Messaging Server (IEMS) 5
for public evaluation. The current enhancements include new operating system
support for the six major Linux distributions: Red Hat, Suse, Mandrake,
TurboLinux, VALinux, and Caldera.

IDG.net has a story about Sharp unveiling its Linux-based PDA at the JavaOne conference, which starts June 4 in San Francisco. The PDA will be based on Lineo’s Embedix Linux and will support Java.

IDG.net reports that NEC Corp. will open a high-performance computing engineering center for Linux-based clusters in Tokyo this Friday.

From Canada Newswire: Alta Terra Ventures Corp. (CDNX: ATT), an
aggressively growing full-service Linux provider, announced today that it has
signed a letter of intent to purchase Univolve Corporation, a private Alberta-
based software company with a wide range of proprietary technology based on
the Linux platform.
Univolve’s major thrust is their breakthrough text-prediction software,
which the company has copyrighted, and which was developed by John Darragh,
who is the co-author of two books on the subject.
