LinuxToday has posted a letter from Darrell Bingham of Enhanced Software Technologies, Inc. Seems that parent company Atipa shuttered EST and BRU on May 14; EST employees are attempting to revive their company. Demo license strings will be provided so that product expirations do not occur.

Linux and IOGEAR unite for USB 2.0 technology

to development support from IOGEAR.

IOGEAR is working with the Linux USB project to deliver the necessary 2.0
driver that will offer users higher performance peripherals and reduction in
bandwidth bottlenecks. The Linux USB team is focused on building open-source
USB support for the Linux 2.2 and 2.4 systems.”

Corporate WAP users abandon data

The results are in, and the latest study from market-research concern Meta Group, Inc. reveals that the number one use for WAP-enabled phones in the corporate sector is… voice communication. Users apparently found the WAP features so difficult to use, that between 80 and 90 percent of them simply gave up using their phones’ data features. Full story at IDG

Here they come — TVs with embedded Linux

TV with a built-in [Linux-based] Internet Appliance subsystem. Princeton’s high-end is a 36″ viewable, 4:3
direct-view CRT HD-ready TV (and computer monitor) with integrated Ch.1 services for enhanced TV and
Internet functionality. The Ai3.6HD monitor system supports video, 480p, 1080i, and 720p (letterbox) digital
formats as well as displaying VGA, SVGA, and XGA graphics. The Ai3.6HD with built-in DVDO 503
deinterlacer/scaler also includes Ch.1’s universal remote/keyboard/mouse.

maddog and roblimo to speak at Computer & Technologies show

The show will take place on May 30 and 31, in Clearwater, Florida. Other speakers include Ralph Cooley (IBM), Buck Carhart (Caldera), and Dexter Morgan (Win4Lin).

University sues adult Web site over domain name

The University of North Carolina is none too happy about the existence of uncgirls.com, and has filed a lawsuit against the site’s operators. UNC claims the adult-oriented site violates federal trademark laws, and is seeking $100,000 in damages, and ownership of the domain name. Full AP story at Salon.
