In defense of the GPL

Kelly McNeill writes “While it is true that it would be illegal to incorporate General Public License code into a closed proprietary system, I’d like to ask one question: How legal would it be to include Microsoft source code into one of my projects, be it open or closed?

If I use GPL’ed source code in one of my projects, then my project must also be GPL’ed. If I don’t want to GPL my code, then I shouldn’t take code from another project, and should write my own from scratch.”

Countersuit threatens Rambus’ revenue

ZDNet reports that Rambus is being countersued by Infineon, a company Rambus recently lost a suit to over patent infingement. Infineon is asking for Rambus to not be allowed to collect royalties on SDRAM and DDR memory.
