Brian Lloyd (via LinuxProgramming): “Zope 2.3.2b1 contains fixes for several issues that have come up
with 2.3.1, including several Catalog and FTP related fixes.
Unless something really important comes up, we expect to make
no further changes between this beta and the 2.3.2 final release.

Owen Taylor (via LinuxProgramming): “GLib-1.3.4 has been released. This is a preview release of the unstable branch of GLib and is
meant for: Those interested in the development of GLib or GTK+; and people planning to port to the upcoming GTK+-2.0 version of GTK+. Note: this is a tentative API-freeze release, major API changes beyond the remaining open ‘2.0 API freeze’ bugs in bugzilla are unlikely to occur before GLib-2.0 is released.”

conversion library. The library is available from SourceForge at http://units.sourceforge.net/ and http://sourceforge.net/projects/units/.”

The Standard reports: “In the midst of poor financial results for
many tech companies, IBM met Wall
Street’s expectations Wednesday,
reporting first-quarter earnings per share
of 98 cents and predicting that it would
meet expectations for the full year as well.

Big Blue’s earnings per share were up 18
percent from last year’s 83 cents per
share, while first-quarter net income of
$1.75 billion was up 15 percent and
revenues of $21 billion were up 14 percent
compared to last year.”

ZDNet News: “Handheld maker Palm began making large-scale job cuts Wednesday and,
according to internal documents, has been detailing other ways it will cut
costs.”

Linux Journal reviews the PictureBook, the latest nootbook in Sony’s VAIO product line. The PictureBook’s features everything including the kitchen sink — representated figuratively by the presence of a built-in digital camera. What’s more, that camera will work just fine under Linux, snapping away JPG stills and AVI videos.
