The Rocky Mountain News has a story about the Jabber instant message project. It’s kind of a basic intro to Jabber story. “With Jabber, an instant-messaging account is created on a server using what is called XML
architecture as the base. A customer can connect to the server to send or receive
messages virtually instantaneously (‘real time’). The Jabber server also translates
proprietary protocols such as the ones AOL, Microsoft and Yahoo! use so that messages
can be sent across various network systems.”

More on the Red Hat 7.1 release: IDG News Service reports that Red Hat has released new service to “simplify the administration of
systems running its software … The new service, called Software Manager, is included
as part of the standard installation in the new Red Hat
Linux 7.1 and allows IT managers to receive customized
information about each computer on their network,
including virus alerts, notifications of bug fixes and

From LinuxSecurity.com: When matching a packet fragment, insufficient checks were performed
to ensure the fragment is valid. In addition, the fragment cache is
checked before any rules are checked. Even if all fragments are
blocked with a rule, fragment cache entries can be created by
packets that match currently held state information. Because of
these discrepancies, certain packets may bypass filtering rules.

All versions of FreeBSD prior to the correction date, including
FreeBSD 3.5.1 and 4.2, contain this problem.
