Leslie Fletcher writes “The UKUUG Award is given annually for a significant contribution to free and open source software, in the form of an article or paper, software product, or other contribution.

The purpose of the Award is to encourage and foster developers and other
contributors in, or connected with, the British Isles. UKUUG is looking
for a work or project that is, or might become, significant in the world
of free and open source software. Special encouragement is given to
entries from UK students and the best of those entries will be
recognised. The judging panel includes representatives from UKUUG, UK
computer science departments, and the wider community.

A one-page summary of the work, accompanied by an abstract and a short
biography, should be submitted via www.ukuug.org/osa/submit. The closing
date for submissions is Saturday 2 April 2005.

UKUUG are giving a prize of £500, to which O’Reilly UK Ltd are
generously adding both a pass to the Open Source Convention and monies
towards travel and accommodation.
