No Netscape 6.1 release?

MozillaQuest.com has an update to earlier reports that Netscape 6.1 had been released. “Apparently the appearance of the Netscape 6.1 directory tree and files on
the Netscape FTP servers was not a 6.1 release. In an e-mail interview
earlier, Netscape spokes-person Catherine Corre told MozillaQuest
Magazine, ‘We have not released Netscape 6.1, this was a routine system
test.’ “

Microsoft unveils new shared source closed license

communities, Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft announced the company’s latest innovation in
software licensing: the Microsoft Shared Source Closed License.

‘Our biggest problem with our Shared Source program is the negative reactions to the details of
the licensing restrictions,’ stated Ballmer at a press confrence held this morning. ‘So we’ve come
up with a solution: All future MS Shared Source community members will not be allowed to
discuss the source code they review, nor will they be allowed to discuss the actual language of the
licensing agreement.’ ”

Blue Linux 1.0 release date set

Blue Linux version 1.0 will be released to the general public on January 15, 2001. (Editor: We assume they mean 2002.) This
version will come in several Flavors. They are as follows Blue Linux Enterprise, Blue Linux
Web, Blue Linux Mail, Blue Linux Firewall, and Blue Linux DNS. Each version will contain the
needed software to successfully setup and maintain a server.

Sun’s StarOffice replacing Microsoft products

ACCPAC delivers IBM DB2 universal database support

Associates (NYSE: CA), today announced that it is the first mid-market
business management solution provider to support IBM’s DB2 Universal
Database the most widely used database in the server software market.

Beginning next month, the ACCPAC Advantage Series Enterprise Edition will
be able to run its accounting processes with DB2 running on Linux or
Windows 2000 servers, as well as a wide range of other other databases.
