New Videos for Mandriva Pulse 2

As the next release of Pulse 2 is almost out of the door Mandriva has uploaded a set of videos showing Pulse 2, its management software for heterogenous and distributed I.T. infrastructures.

These short videos show Pulse 2 in action performing several tasks from the simplest packages creation and deployment to advanced imaging features. These vids are on DailyMotion and freely shareable.

    Bluestacks’ Android-Powered Gamepop TV Console to Run iOS Games

    Bluestacks has brought Android apps to PCs and Macs. And its upcoming Gamepop console will bring Android games to the TV. But none of this is unique — there are others who have tried similar things, most notably Ouya’s Android-powered gaming console. However, Bluestacks has a radically more ambitious plan, today announcing that its Android-powered console will be able to run iOS games as well thanks to Looking Glass, a piece of software that mimics Apple’s iOS APIs.

    The company has already lined up some relatively large iOS and Android developers to support its console, including Subatomic studios (the maker of the iOS hit Fieldrunners), Glu, Halfbrick, Jawfish Games, and Gameloft. Altogether, the company is promising a collection…

    Mirantis Releases Fuel for OpenStack 3.0

    On May 22, eighteen senior officials from the Singapore Government gathered at the FutureGov lunch briefing Open Source, Open Government—to discuss how open source technology can drive openness and innovation in the public sector.

    The senior IT decision makers attending the event were from agencies such as the Ministry of Health, Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, Land Transport Authority, Urban Redevelopment Authority, Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore Management University, and the Ministry of Communications and Information, among others.

    Fixing the Patent System: Government and Industry Push for Reform

    In the US it’s estimated that lawsuits from patent assertion entities, commonly called patent trolls, have cost the US economy some $300 billion in lost wealth, causing far-reaching repercussions in terms of missed opportunities from companies scared of possible legal exposure. Many in Washington, Silicon Valley, and elsewhere have been calling for the system’s reform.
